Antonio Sanz Escallón (competition winner)

Antonio Sanz Escallón is a composer and pianist that focuses on projects involving elements of theater, poetry and music. His work often explores unusual, surreal, intense, and mystic experiences through sounds and texts that embody such states. He has received commissions from the Galveston Symphony, the Baltimore Classical Guitar Society, the AURA Contemporary Ensemble, saxophonist Salvador Flores and mezzo-soprano Audrey Welsh. Additionally, he has worked with the Peabody Jazz Ensemble, Hub New Music, the Loadbang Ensemble, Ensemble Concept/21, The Rhythm Method Quartet and violinist Barbora Kolářová among others. As a collaborative pianist, Antonio has worked with numerous performers in Houston and Baltimore and works as a conservatory accompanist at the Peabody Institute. He is currently working toward his master’s degree in composition studying under Kevin Puts at the Peabody Institute.
