In addition to numerous solo performances, clarinetist Michael Brignolo has performed regularly with the Keene Chamber Orchestra, the Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra, the Massachusetts Wind Orchestra, and as principal clarinet with the Valley Winds, winners of the 2016-17 American Prize in Wind Band Performance. He has taught clarinet at all levels in the Pioneer Valley since 2010, and is the clarinet instructor at Mount Holyoke College. He received degrees in Music and Clarinet Performance from the University of Massachusetts where his teachers included Michael Sussman and Steven Jackson, and he won the University’s Howard Lebow Memorial Scholarship as well as the 2011 Concerto Competition. He also studied theory and composition as an undergraduate, and his wind band transcription and arrangement of Witold Lutoslawski’s Symphony No. 1 was performed by the Valley Winds.
